Hanover County, Virginia

Hanover County, Virginia is about 90 miles south of Washington, D.C., and about 12 miles north of Richmond.

Before the area was colonized by the English, it was a hunting ground for the Pamunkey and Chickahominy Indians. In the late 17th century, the area was settled by plantation owners and others involved in the tobacco related economy, who established the county in 1720.

Hanover County was the home of Patrick Henry.
