Wythe County,
Virginia
 |
|
Wythe County is located in the
mountains of western Virginia, in the second tier of counties north of
North Carolina. It contains 465 square miles, and only a couple of
circular ones.
It was formed in 1790 from Montgomery County and
named for George Wythe, the first Virginia signer of the Declaration of
Independence. Now, there is no record that George Wythe ever lived
there, but they named the place after him anyway. |
Wythe has a
current population of just under thirty thousand.
