George W. Miller
(About 1845 — After 1881)
Eliza Caroline Pharis
(January 1, 1842 — July 15, 1891)
George W. Miller was born in about 1845 in Kentucky. His wife Eliza Ann Pharis was born on January 1, 1842 in Cumberland County in south central Kentucky, adjacent to the Tennessee border.
The family did not stay long there, moving west and, by the time of the 1860 census, there lived in Hickman County, Kentucky.
That census showed Eliza C. Pharis as an eighteen-year old female in the household of her father, Samuel Farris (sic).
The 1870 census for Hickman County, Kentucky showed him as a thirty-year old farmer owning real estate valued at $700. He was married to Eliza C. Miller. She was as “keeping house.” Both were born in Kentucky. Their children were Sarah P. Miller (age 2) and Samuel Miller (age 1).
